Bench Conduct and Demeanor Training-9/30/26 (Wednesday, September 30, 2026)

If you are, or wish to become, a pro tem judge in the areas of small claims, settlement conferences, family law and other areas at the discretion of the court, this training is required. You must renew your Certificate once every three years. The 3-hour Bench Conduct and Demeanor Training will be held at the Gibson Courthouse, beginning at 1:00pm on September 30 in Dept. 43. This training session will give you the requisite 3 hours required every 3 years in order to keep current. Our presenters for this training will be the Hon. Suzanne Gazzaniga, Hon. Trisha Hirashima, Hon. Raymonn DeJesus and Hon. Glenn Holley.

Space is limited. Please register your seat online. You must register no later than September 28 at which time registration will close, or will close when maximum number of registrants has been reached. If you register and thereafter determine you cannot make the training, please email Nancy at placerbar.org@gmail.com to cancel so someone on the waitlist can take your seat.

Paws, Provisions, and Peace of Mind: A Practitioner's Guide to Pet Planning

Join the Placer County Bar Association at the Placer SPCA for an exclusive MCLE event featuring local estate planning experts Ali Goff of Goff Legal and Jim Filippi of Filippi Law Firm. As clients increasingly view their pets as family, legal and financial advisors must be prepared to safeguard these non-human family members.

This dynamic session will cover everything you need to confidently advise your clients on pet planning. Ali and Jim will break down the mechanics of pet provisions—from simple outright gifts to specialized trust options. Attendees will walk away with plain-English drafting tips, actionable advice, and the practical tools needed to provide next-level service to their clients (and their pets).

Lunch will be catered by Matt Mermod from Newcastle Wedding Gardens with Artisan Sandwiches, chips, Ceasar salad, chicken Ceasar salad, fruit salad, topped off with his famous chocolate chip sea salt cookies. After the presentation, you will be able to take a tour of the shelter. Be sure to let us know if you have dietary issues as gluten free bread will be provided upon request.

There is plenty of parking at the shelter, on the street/neighborhood parking. Enter through the Community Room and look for a sign to enter the gate near the front door of the Adoption Center.

So, sign-up now to reserve your seat as space is limited to 50 attendees. No need to pre-select lunch as it will be a buffet Check-in will begin at 11:30 so you have time to sign-in, find a seat and grab your lunch. The presentation will begin promptly at Noon.

REGISTRATION CLOSES ON 10/9/26 SO WE CAN GIVE AN ACCURATE HEADCOUNT FOR FOOD PREPARATION.

Cost is $35 for all PCBA Probate and Estate Planning Section members and South Placer Estate Planning Council members. $38 for all other registrants.
