Advanced Planning in 2021 Change: IDGTs and SLATs
As the estate tax exemption sunset looms on the horizon, Kate Willcox will discuss planning strategies that you can implement now to take advantage of the high exemption while still retaining flexibility for your clients. This presentation will cover the use of SLATs, IDGTs, and GRATs to freeze high value estates and begin the process of transitioning wealth to the next generation while allowing clients to retain control and access to capital.
Kate Willcox is with Boutin Jones law firm. Her practice focuses on both foundational and complex estate and gift planning, including tax planning, as well as post-death trust administration. Her estate planning background includes working with blended families and same-sex couples. She also has experience working with clients to set up irrevocable trusts, including grantor trusts, ILITs, GRATs, QPRTs and charitable trusts. Her business succession planning practice includes structuring plans to efficiently and effectively transfer family businesses to the next generation, as well as “estate freeze” transactions to minimize the tax burden of doing so.
