Tips for Preventing Conflict in Personal Property Distributions
Date: 8/30/23
Time: Noon via Zoom
Speakers: Jennifer Dean , Esq..
The problem with administering tangible personal property is that it's personal. Beneficiaries can become attached to items that are monetarily insignificant, but which can gain significance because of beneficiaries' associations with memories and experiences, leading to the potential for disputes. Practitioners have the important job of guiding clients during lifetime to help avoid or eliminate the possibility of these later disputes after passing, but we don't always get the opportunity to do so. This presentation will cover tips for planning for tangible personal property during lifetime, and strategies for distributing property equitably to avoid disputes after death.
