Paws, Provisions, and Peace of Mind: A Practitioner's Guide to Pet Planning
Join the Placer County Bar Association at the Placer SPCA for an exclusive MCLE event featuring local estate planning experts Ali Goff of Goff Legal and Jim Filippi of Filippi Law Firm. As clients increasingly view their pets as family, legal and financial advisors must be prepared to safeguard these non-human family members.
This dynamic session will cover everything you need to confidently advise your clients on pet planning. Ali and Jim will break down the mechanics of pet provisions—from simple outright gifts to specialized trust options. Attendees will walk away with plain-English drafting tips, actionable advice, and the practical tools needed to provide next-level service to their clients (and their pets).
Lunch will be catered by Matt Mermod from Newcastle Wedding Gardens with Artisan Sandwiches, chips, Ceasar salad, chicken Ceasar salad, fruit salad, topped off with his famous chocolate chip sea salt cookies. After the presentation, you will be able to take a tour of the shelter. Be sure to let us know if you have dietary issues as gluten free bread will be provided upon request.
There is plenty of parking at the shelter, on the street/neighborhood parking. Enter through the Community Room and look for a sign to enter the gate near the front door of the Adoption Center.
So, sign-up now to reserve your seat as space is limited to 50 attendees. No need to pre-select lunch as it will be a buffet Check-in will begin at 11:30 so you have time to sign-in, find a seat and grab your lunch. The presentation will begin promptly at Noon.

Cost is $35 for all PCBA Probate and Estate Planning Section members and South Placer Estate Planning Council members. $38 for all other registrants.
